All mammals have an endocannabinoid system, which is spread out throughout the body from head to toe. Our bodies and animals’ bodies produce endocannabinoids very much like the cannabinoids found in these plants (hemp and cannabis). Therefore, the receptors found throughout the body all respond to these plant phytocannabinoids when they enter the body just as they do with our bodies’ natural cannabinoids. The phytocannabinoids bind to the receptors that need them most and thus cause the beneficial results experienced. This system also helps to regulate all homeostatdogwithtreatsic functions. Without homeostasis, our feedback mechanisms stop working which results in disease, inflammation, autoimmune disease, epilepsy, the list goes on and on.

Often in disease states our bodies need assistance with this regulation and need help outside of the body. Plant phytocannabinoids like CBD are a healthy, nontoxic way to provide balance in the body of a human or animal.

Your pets’s natural messenger cannabinoids are called anandamide and 2-AG. They stimulate receptors present in your pet’s brain (CB1 receptors) and throughout its body (CB2 receptors). The cannabinoids our extracts attach to those same receptors. However, they resist letting go of those receptors so their effect is more powerful and longer lasting. Drugs that hang on to receptors longer than the natural messengers are called an agonist. The chief agonist cannabinoids in cannabis or hash are 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC or delta-9) and cannabidiol (CBD).  When the effect of the cannabinoids wear off, it is because they were processed (metabolized) by the pet’s liver into compounds that left through the bile and urine or were stored in the pet’s body fat. This is why the possible benefits can be broad and why cannabinoids can result in immediate benefit and support.
